Hydroponic Farming Technician (San Diego)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We’re always accepting applications for Hydroponic Farming Technicians to help maintain a commercial, hydroponic, outdoor, fruit and vegetable farm. On a day-to-day basis, there are any number of hydroponic and farming tasks you could be working on including by not limited to: seeding new plants in a greenhouse; adjusting nutrient levels and monitoring water and tank activity; planting in towers; harvesting; treating plants for pests and diseases; ensuring the farm is beautiful and productive; helping with educational classes, tours, and farm stands; etc.

Please note: this position is physically demanding.  Such demands include but are not limited to: working frequently moving heavy materials (up to 50lbs), working around heights, constant machine noise, bending and kneeling, and being outside for up to 8 hours per day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have professional experience with hydroponic growing, and personal or professional experience growing fruits and vegetables in-ground.  Bonus if you’ve grown fruits and vegetables hydroponically.  Bonus if you have experience with hydroponics outdoors.  This includes but is not limited to:

    • Understanding and adjusting nutrient levels in hydroponic water

    • Adjusting flow and drip rates

    • Growing fruits and vegetables

    • Harvesting fruits and vegetables

    • Identifying and treating pests and diseases

    • Keeping large amounts of data organized


    Must be proficient and/or comfortable with:

    • Working around heights

    • Constant machine noise

    • Lifting up to 50lbs

    • Working outside doing physical activity for up to 8 hours per day

    • Regularly waking up early

    • Spreadsheets


    Other must-have's include:

    • Valid driver’s license

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Positive attitude and a desire to expand knowledge

    • Keen observational abilities and attention to detail

    Beneficial if you have experience with Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar

COMPENSATION:

  • Both full-time and part-time positions exist, all Monday – Friday.

  • Pay is based on experience and competitive.
