Farm and Garden Installation Laborer (San Diego)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We’re always accepting applications for Farm and Garden Installation Laborers, who provide support to our installation team with day-to-day activities on the job site, ultimately creating beautiful and productive new farms and gardens.  These activities could include but are not limited to:

  • Demolition of existing landscaping

  • Digging trenches, holes, and leveling by hand

  • Installing irrigation systems

  • Hauling materials such as soil, gravel, and mulch

  • Installing ground cover like DG or flagstone

  • planting vegetables, herbs, California natives, pollinators, and fruit trees

  • running errands

  • supporting the team in any other capacity

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have experience with or knowledge of landscape installations and basic job-site safety practices

  • Must be proficient and comfortable using landscaping and garden tools and equipment such as wheelbarrows, shovels, pitchforks, pruners, saws, etc.

  • Must be respectful, coachable, and able to take direction from a diverse leadership team

  • Beneficial if you have experience with or knowledge of farming and gardening practices such as:

    • Organic soil and garden practices

    • Seeding and transplanting

    • Harvesting

    • Pest and disease treatments (organic products and methods)

    • Fertilizers and amendments (organic products and methods)

    • Fruit tree care

  • Beneficial if you have experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems

  • Beneficial if you have experience using equipment such as:

    • Trenchers

    • Compactors 

    • Rototillers

    • Skid Steer Loaders

  • Beneficial if you have customer service experience

  • Must be:

    • Self-motivated and will to do physically demanding work all day.

  • Other must-have’s include:

    • Comfortable working outside all day on a daily basis

    • Comfortable waking up early

    • Comfortable with physical labor

    • Can lift up to 50lbs

    • Valid driver’s license and must have a vehicle

COMPENSATION:

  • Both full-time and part-time positions exist, all Monday – Friday.

  • Pay is based on experience and competitive.
