Farm Technician (Orange County)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We’re always accepting applications for Farm and Garden Technicians in Orange County.  This position requires fruit and vegetable farming experience in a professional setting.  On a day-to-day basis, you’ll primarily be maintaining a small corporate restaurant farm. However, each month you’ll also have an opportunity to work on a variety of other projects from maintaining residential gardens and orchards, to assisting with installations.  There are any number of farming and gardening tasks you could be working on for each client including by not limited to: fertilizing and amending the soil; treating gardens and orchard for pests and diseases; planting each client’s seasonal favorites; adjusting irrigation; pruning fruit trees; making sure each farm and garden is both beautiful and productive.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have professional experience with gardening or farming fruits and vegetables using organic methods, including:

  • Cultivating soil with fertilizers and amendments

    • Planting

    • Watering

    • Pruning

    • Identifying pests and diseases

    • Weeding

    • Harvesting

  • Should have some experience with:

    • Installing and maintaining irrigation

    • Fruit tree care

    • Composting

  • Must be proficient and comfortable:

    • Using farm and garden tools such as shovel, pitchfork, wheelbarrow, sprayer, and other landscaping and gardening tools

    • Lifting up to 50lbs

    • Working outside doing physical farming activity for up to 8 hours per day

    • Regularly waking up early

  • Other must-have’s include:

    • Valid driver’s license

    • Reliable daily transportation

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Positive attitude and a desire to expand knowledge

    • Keen observational abilities and attention to detail

  • Beneficial if you have experience with Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar

COMPENSATION:

  • Both full-time and part-time positions exist, all Monday – Friday.

  • Pay is based on experience and competitive.
